RECRUITMENT

                                          "Fitness 4 Work" Act On the Interest of Both the Employee and the Employer :


Employee:
  • To break the stigma associated with appointment of people with disability in formal employment
  • To ensure that the people with disabilities are properly placed in formal employment to ensure successful reintegration into their role.

  • Employer:
    Assist the employer to comply with the South African legislature i.e. Employment Equity Act and therefore meet the BEE ratings

    Worksite Visit



    A work site visit is conducted by an Occupational Therapist for variety of reasons which include the following:
  • Job analysis

  • Observing an employee whilst performing duties of his occupation and thereby assessing the physical and cognitive demands of the job, tasks and responsibilities. Job analysis will assist in determining if the employee can still perform duties of the occupation irrespective of the condition. Analysis of alternative jobs can also be done during a worksite visit should an alternative occupation be deemed necessary. An employee is place on an identified alternative occupation on a trial basis to establish if he is suited.
  • Ergonomic Assessment

  • It's an assessment performed to optimise all aspects of job performance i.e. safety, quality and productivity which could be accomplished through the appropriate design and use of work stations, work processes and the overall organisation of work. Ergonomics assessments assists to prevent illness & musculoskeletal injuries and increase work satisfaction among the workforce. Necessary adaptations or modification is therefore done to enhance productivity and security.
  • Desensitisation Programme

  • A worksite visit may also be conducted by an occupational Therapist to perform a desensitisation programme. This is training or information session aimed at managers and/or employees to prepare them for working with a person with disabilities. Topics covered often includes importance of accessibility into workplace, challenges faced by people with disabilities, how to address these challenges, disability etiquette etc.
